An interdisciplinary investigation of the cultures and traditions of the indigenous people of Australia, New Zealand, Polynesia and North America. The Summer School will concentrate on indigenous culture and art, traditional beliefs, rituals and scientific knowledges. It will engage with postcolonial debates on the problems of writing histories of oppression, and it will discuss indigenous and non-indigenous portrayals of aboriginal lives.

FEES
The course fee of €290 covers:
- a taught programme of 26 hours
- accommodation in a student apartment
- social programme and final party
The course fee without accommodation is €140.

CREDITS
Successful completion of the Summer School includes oral participation, the oral presentation of a project and an essay that will be completed by 31 October. The Summer School will be awarded with 9 ECTS.

CALL FOR PAPERS - PUBLICATION
The essay which will be written on a topic of each participant’s choice can be published electronically; this means it can be written as a refereed publication. Advice with scholarly conventions and editorial skills will be offered as part of the Summer School.

SOCIAL PROGRAM
The summer school will be accompanied by a lively social programme, film screenings, an exhibition and a final party.

Participants choose between four courses offered by international experts in the field. At the beginning of the Summer School the theme leaders will give a public lecture for all participants.
